Sri Lankan swimmer Akalanka Peiris broke the national record in the 100m Individual Medley at the 2025 Australian Short Course Swimming Championships. He finished the race in 55.89 seconds, beating his previous record of 56.49 seconds.
Peiris also performed well in other events. In the 50m backstroke, he narrowly missed his own record of 24.52 seconds but earned 705 FINA points, showing he remains Sri Lanka’s top swimmer.
His consistent performances at international competitions highlight his talent and dedication. This achievement not only adds to his personal milestones but also brings pride to Sri Lankan swimming.
