Sri Lankan swimmer Akalanka Peiris broke the national record in the 100m Individual Medley at the 2025 Australian Short Course Swimming Championships. He finished the race in 55.89 seconds, beating his previous record of 56.49 seconds.

Peiris also performed well in other events. In the 50m backstroke, he narrowly missed his own record of 24.52 seconds but earned 705 FINA points, showing he remains Sri Lanka’s top swimmer.
