“The final promises a battle between two teams at the peak of their form”
Australia reached the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 final after defeating West Indies by eight wickets in the semi-final at The Oval in London.
West Indies scored 125/7 after captain Hayley Matthews and Qiana Joseph shared a 47-run opening partnership. However, Australia’s bowlers fought back strongly and reduced the West Indies to 83/6. Deandra Dottin then added an unbeaten 26 to help her team post a competitive total.
Australia lost two early wickets and slipped to 43/2 before Beth Mooney steadied the chase with an unbeaten 61. Ashleigh Gardner supported her with an unbeaten 35 as the pair guided Australia to 127/2 in just 13 overs, securing victory with 42 balls remaining.
Gardner also starred with the ball, taking two wickets for 13 runs to earn the Player of the Match award. Australia stayed unbeaten in the tournament and advanced to their eighth Women’s T20 World Cup final.
Australia will meet the winner of the second semi-final between England and South Africa in the final at Lord’s on July 5. The six-time champions will aim to lift another Women’s T20 World Cup trophy.
