Norway booked their place in the FIFA World Cup Round of 16 after defeating Ivory Coast 2-1 in an exciting Round of 32 clash at AT&T Stadium in Texas.
Antonio Nusa gave Norway the lead in the 39th minute with a brilliant curling strike, allowing his side to take a 1-0 advantage into half-time. Ivory Coast responded strongly after the break and found an equaliser through Amad Diallo in the 74th minute after an impressive solo run.
The match looked set for extra time until Erling Haaland produced the decisive moment. The Norwegian striker scored from close range in the 86th minute to restore his team’s lead and secure a dramatic victory.
Haaland once again proved his importance for Norway, while Nusa and captain Martin Ødegaard also played key roles throughout the match. Ivory Coast created several chances but could not find another goal despite a spirited performance.
