“Every successful performance adds momentum to France’s World Cup campaign”

France secured their place in the FIFA World Cup Round of 16 with a convincing 3-0 victory over Sweden at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

The French side controlled the match from the opening whistle and created several chances before Kylian Mbappé broke the deadlock just before half-time. His goal gave France a deserved 1-0 lead heading into the break.

France continued their attacking display after the restart. Bradley Barcola doubled the advantage in the 53rd minute after a fine assist from Michael Olise. Later in the match, Olise provided another excellent pass for Mbappé, who scored his second goal to seal an impressive victory.

Mbappé’s brace took his tournament tally to six goals, putting him among the leading scorers at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Olise also impressed with two assists, while France’s defence comfortably kept Sweden from creating clear scoring opportunities.

With the win, France advance to the Round of 16, where they will face Paraguay. After another dominant performance, Didier Deschamps’ side will head into the knockout stage full of confidence as they continue their pursuit of World Cup glory.
